Gregg Dawley
Mr. Dawley brings to Kearny Real Estate Company over thirty years of national real estate experience, working across all property types, including residential land and resorts, and engaging in all aspects of the investing business. These activities include acquisitions, loan restructuring, asset management, and board of director positions involving large privately held companies. At Kearny, Mr. Dawley will be actively involved in the acquisition and work out of non-perfoming loan portfolios as well as sourcing new investment opportunities in northern California.
In late 2008, Mr. Dawley formed his own consulting company (Dawley & Company), providing an array of services that included asset/company valuations, property disposition, and board level oversight of several large private companies. Clients included Morgan Stanley, Fortress Investment Group, and East West Partners.
In his capacity as Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Dawley functioned as a co-head of the western region operation, responsible for the direct oversight of the principal investing and advisory businesses, including both acquisitions and investment management activities. Geographic coverage included the west coast, the southwest including Arizona, Nevada, and Texas, and Hawaii. At its peak, the San Francisco real estate office totaled 25 professionals. Mr. Dawley worked at Morgan Stanley from 1998 to 2008.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Dawley spent ten years with AEW, initially in the Boston office as an acquisition specialist, and for the last six years, in the Los Angeles office. Following the move to Los Angeles, responsibilities included oversight of all asset management activities in the western region. As part of that responsibility, Mr. Dawley was directly involved in working out many of the hybrid debt investments originated in the late 1980s.
Prior to 1988, Mr. Dawley worked ten years with CB Richard Ellis. The initial four years were spent in the Company’s Research and Consultation Group conducting market and financial feasibility studies for developers and financial institutions. Mr. Dawley transitioned to the Company’s advisory group, both in an asset management role for office and industrial properties, as well as directing the expansion and leasing of an iconic retail center in the heart of Georgetown in Washington DC. Mr. Dawley received an MBA from the University of Southern California, and a BA in Economics from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI.
